Svenja Thoes is a two-time age group world champion and three-time Ironman winner. Perhaps it's even an understatement to say that Svenja's path to becoming a world-class triathlete has been "curious." It wasn't until the age of 16 that the Saarland native even began jogging, spurred on by her Dalmatian dog. A few years later, Svenja won the main prize in a sweepstake held by her employer Condor, a starting place at Ironman 70.3 in Mallorca. A completely surprising second place was, on the one hand, proof of exceptional talent and, on the other hand, gave the push to increase the training volumes. Then in 2016, still as an amateur triathlete, it was off to the legendary Ironman in Hawaii. The world championship title of the amateurs was almost a minor matter, but 15th place in the entire field, ahead of numerous professionals, amounted to a small sensation in the Thriatlon world. With Brett Sutton, one of the most successful triathlon coaches in the world at his side, the next stage of his career is now to be ignited. Professional ambitions are also subordinated to this goal. Svenja is still on leave at Condor until the end of 2022 and her sports management studies will also have to be put on the back burner for a while.
